Acrobatics and Tumble

Acrobatics and Tumble

Our Acrobatics/Tumbling class combines floorwork inspired by gymnastics with jazz dance movements to build flexibility, strength, and control. Dancers learn to safely and correctly execute acrobatic and tumbling skills—without the use of springs or trampolines—so they can confidently perform them on stage. Taught by a certified Acrobatic Arts instructor, this class follows the Acrobatic Arts curriculum to ensure proper technique and safety.

Ballet

Ballet

The foundation for all dance forms. Improve strength, poise, balance and control. Technical skill gained through the study of Ballet is necessary for all other dance forms of dance. Students considering ever participating in the competitive team or pointe shoe work in the future should enroll in a Ballet class.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is a fast-paced, high-energy form of dance and the emphasis is less on formal technique and more on personal style. Classes start with a warm-up designed to get the blood pumping and the muscles working intensely, and then students will move on to learning and perfecting difficult choreography. We at FSOD like to ensure that our choreography and movement is age appropriate

Jazz

Jazz

Jazz is a fundamental dance form that compliments all other dance forms. Jazz classes are comprised of a warm-up, centre work and progressions including jumps and turns. Technique and style through choreography are emphasized. Students will learn jazz steps, progressive skills and jazz combinations and routines.

Lyrical

Lyrical

Lyrical is a highly interpretive, expressive, and free-flowing form of dance, wherein the dancer expresses the theme or lyrics of a piece of music through his/her movements. Lyrical is a style that combines elements of several other styles including ballet, jazz, and acrobatics. Dancers strive to connect the mind and body through fluid dance movements

Tap

Tap

This is a form of dance that focuses on coordination, timing, and syncopated rhythm. Tap is an expression of movement through sound. Dancers will learn choreography by performing rhythm-based steps. Once you start tapping you will never want to stop!

Preschool Dance

Our preschool dance program is the perfect introduction to the world of dance, designed just for our youngest dancers! We offer a variety of engaging classes that combine movement, play, and learning to spark a love of dance from the very beginning.

Families can start with our Dance With Me class for ages 18 months–3, where an adult joins in the fun. Dancers ready for more independence can enjoy Baby Ballet for ages 2–3, Tiny Tap for ages 3–5, and Preschool Acrobatics/Tumbling for ages 3–5. Each class helps build coordination, confidence, and creativity, making it a joyful start to their dance journey!
