Studio Policies – Dress Code

Learn what your dancer needs to wear and understand our dress code enforcement policy

Please remember that dance shoes should not be worn outdoors, as it damages the shoes and reduces their lifespan.

Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Combo Classes

Leotard + Tights (Dance shorts and skirts are permitted over the leotard and tights) Dancers must wear tights under their leotard!

Ballet

  • Ballet pink leather or canvas ballet shoes Recommended for ages 6 and under: Capezio Daisy Ballet Shoes Recommended for ages 7 and up: Capezio Hanami Canvas Ballet Shoes

Jazz

  • Carmel slip-on jazz shoes Recommended for all ages: Capezio E-Series Slip-On Jazz Shoes

Tap

  • Tap 1 and Tiny Tap: Carmel velcro tap shoes Recommended: Carmel Capezio Mary Jane Tap Shoes
  • Tap 2: Carmel laced (preferred) tap shoes

HipHop + Acro/Tumble

Form-fitting dance attire, two-piece dance sets, leotard/unitards, tank tops, shorts or leggings Nothing that goes above the head when upside downNo jeans, skirts, or dresses

Lyrical

  • Recommended for all: Capezio Foot Undeez

HipHop

  • Black tennis shoes Recommended: Black Vans or Converse

Acro/Tumble

  • Barefoot

Teen Combo

  • Barefoot, lyrical paws, or ballet shoes

Ballet/Jazz Combo

  • Follow ballet shoe requirements

Dress Code Strike System

  • Strike 1: Warning card sent home
  • Strike 2: Warning card and phone call to remind parents
  • Strike 3: In-person meeting required before dancer allowed to return to class
  • Anything past 3 strikes: Removal from the program
